Interpersonal Mediation

“Conflict” can be defined simply as difficulty integrating new information.

Oftentimes, with patience and understanding, we are able to navigate conflict and integrate this new information, returning to a state of homeostasis and connection.

Other times, we are not able to integrate this new information and painful stories about the experience or the people involved build.  The experience of conflict then becomes more intense and without satisfactory resolution, can lead to hostility, deep pain, and even hopelessness.

When relationships falter, trust is broken, and returning to harmony, agreement or even understanding may seem impossible.

Interpersonal Mediation can help!

By supporting individuals to be deeply heard and connect with what is truly important, we can begin to rebuild the trust and an experience of mutual care. Through the containment and support of Interpersonal Mediation, both parties are guided to begin to listen in a new way, integrate difficult information and create deeper understanding. This place of mutual understanding and curiosity creates the foundation for sustainable, fulfilling agreements.

My Goal For Mediation Is First To Build Trust And Strengthen Relationships, Which Allows Sustainable Resolutions To Arise Naturally From The Connection

My approach to mediation is grounded in empathy and compassionate communication.  Some founding principles are:

  • Most conflict occurs at the level of strategy (the details of 'how').

  • Painful words and experiences can be transformed with empathy into expressions of what is most important to each party.

  • When we can connect with each other’s underlying needs & values, we can build trust and connection, which precedes sustainable agreements.

Next Steps

To explore if your situation is appropriate for Interpersonal Mediation, please start with booking a complementary Discovery Session.

Following the Discovery Session, all parties may receive an email with recommendations for how to proceed, a link for each person to schedule a 30-minute Pre-Mediation call and a link for scheduling the group Interpersonal Mediation sessions.

Mediation is offered virtually over Zoom on a sliding scale of $160 to $120 CAD per hour, and sessions are 90 minute to 2 hours in length.

Sliding scale is intended to make services more readily available to those of differing income. Clients are asked to choose the rate that reflects their resources, knowing that contributing at the higher rate enables me to offer serves at discounted rates to those who would otherwise not be able to afford support.
